TaskLog - Guide

Manage tasks with hierarchical groups and built-in Pomodoro / time tracking timers. Plan your work, track execution time, and review your productivity.


Getting Started

  1. Click Add Group to create a project or category
  2. Click Add Task to add a task to the selected group
  3. Double-click a task to open the timer window
  4. Click Start to begin tracking time — or click Start Timer in the header to begin an untitled task immediately

Main Screen

Left Pane (Navigator)

  • Hierarchical tree of groups and tasks (like a file browser)
  • Groups can be expanded/collapsed
  • Drag and drop to move tasks between groups or reorder

Right Pane (Task List)

  • Shows tasks in the selected group
  • Click column headers to sort
  • Two display modes: Simple (name, priority, date, status) and Detail (adds execution time, count, memo)

Filters

  • Keyword search (matches task name and memo)
  • Status filter: New / In Progress / Completed / Ignored
  • Priority filter: ★ through ★★★★★

Timer Window

Opens as a popup when you double-click a task or click Start Timer. Multiple timers can run simultaneously.

Timer Modes

Controls

  • Start / Pause — toggle the timer
  • Stop — end the session and save the log
  • Skip — skip a break interval (Pomodoro mode)

Task Details

  • Task name (editable, auto-saves)
  • Priority (★ to ★★★★★)
  • Due date and completion date (with date picker)
  • Status dropdown + completion checkbox
  • Memo (multi-line text)
  • Total execution time and count
  • Activity log (start/end time for each session)

Task Organization

Groups

  • Groups are like folders — they can be nested
  • Group status is auto-calculated from child tasks
  • Each group can have its own theme color
  • Right-click a group for settings, rename, or delete

Drag and Drop

  • Move tasks and groups between the left and right panes
  • Reorder items within the same group
  • Drag threshold: 5px (smaller moves are treated as clicks)

Tips

  • Quick start — Click the timer button in the header to start an untitled task immediately. Name it later.
  • Multiple timers — Run timers for different tasks at the same time. Running tasks are highlighted in the list.
  • Resume — Paused timers save their remaining time and resume from where you left off.
  • Group themes — Assign different colors to groups to visually distinguish project areas.

Privacy

  • All task data is stored as local text files on your computer
  • No data is sent to any external server
  • No analytics or tracking
