QuickClip User Guide
QuickClip turns frequently reused content into searchable, structured Clips while keeping clipboard history, template expansion, and insertion behavior explicit.
Getting Started
- Add a Library location or open the existing Clip collection.
- Create a Clip or promote an item from local Clipboard History.
- Choose its type, name, tags, trigger, content, and optional variables.
- Search it from the Library, Quick Find, Quick Paste, or mobile keyboard.
- Preview expansion, provide required fields, then insert or copy the result.
Tip: Promote only valuable History items so the Clip Library stays intentional.

History Becomes a Reusable Clip
Clipboard History is temporary intake. A Clip is a deliberate reusable item with metadata, type-aware editing, expansion, and a stable location.
- Eight Clip types: Manage plain text, rich templates, links, images, files, and other supported reusable content.
- Clipboard History: Keep a configurable local history and promote selected entries into durable Clips.
- Template variables: Expand dates, UUIDs, clipboard values, fields, choices, checks, calculations, and cursor placement.
- Quick Paste: Search, preview, expand, and insert quickly; when direct insert is unavailable, copy with honest fallback feedback.
- Desktop and mobile productivity: Use abbreviations, quick find, global shortcuts where supported, and a configurable mobile keyboard.
- Multi-location Library: Search and manage Clips across capable local, cloud, remote, offline, conflict, trash, and recovery workflows.
Note: Clipboard and template content can contain secrets. Review expansion, destination, history retention, and exports before sharing.
Settings
Open Settings to review the following app-specific controls:
- Library locations, offline cache, conflict, transfer, trash, and recovery
- Clipboard capture, retention, exclusions, sensitive content, and immediate clear
- Desktop shortcuts, Quick Paste, abbreviations, mobile keyboard, and external actions
- Appearance, tags, templates, expansion, privacy, and data exchange
Trial, Free, and Pro use the same functional feature set. Pro removes mobile ads and the daily desktop support reminder.
Keyboard Shortcuts
On Apple platforms, use Command where the app maps a displayed Ctrl shortcut to the platform primary modifier. The in-app shortcut page remains authoritative.

Tips & Tricks
Promote only valuable History items so the Clip Library stays intentional.
Use a field, choice, or check variable when a template changes each time.
Set a cursor marker so insertion places the caret at the next editing point.
Review offline and conflict status before editing the same Clip from another location.
Troubleshooting
| Problem | What to check |

| Quick Paste copied instead of inserting | The current platform or target app may block direct insertion; paste the copied result manually. |
| Clipboard History is empty | Check platform capability, capture settings, permission, exclusions, and whether history is paused. |
| A variable does not expand | Open Preview and verify braces, variable name, required input, calculation syntax, and recursion limits. |
| A location is unavailable | Reconnect authorization or review offline cache and capability status; QuickClip does not fall back silently. |
Privacy
- Clipboard History is local and configurable.
- Sensitive previews and location capabilities are shown explicitly.
- Remote or cloud locations are accessed only when you add and authorize them.
- Insert fallback copies content and tells you what happened instead of claiming direct control.
