QuickScanner - Guide

QuickScanner turns your device camera into a full document scanner — with automatic edge detection, perspective correction, PDF export, QR code reading, image editing, and cloud backup. This guide walks through every feature so you can go paperless with confidence.

Getting Started

  1. Launch QuickScanner — you land on the camera viewfinder ready to scan.
  2. Grant camera permission when prompted so the app can capture documents.
  3. Frame a document in the viewfinder — blue corner markers appear as edges are detected automatically.
  4. Tap the shutter to capture. Adjust the crop handles if needed, then confirm.
  5. Export as PDF or save the scan to your library for later.
Hold your device parallel to the document for the best edge detection. The app corrects minor angles automatically, but a straighter shot gives cleaner results.

Scanning

QuickScanner offers flexible scanning modes for different document types.

Single Page Scan

  1. Point the camera at a document.
  2. Wait for the blue edge overlay to appear, confirming detection.
  3. Tap the shutter button to capture.
  4. Review and adjust the crop on the confirmation screen.
  5. Tap Save to add the page to your library.

Multi-page Scanning

  1. After capturing the first page, tap Add Page instead of Save.
  2. Continue scanning additional pages — each is added to the current document.
  3. Reorder pages by dragging thumbnails in the page list.
  4. When all pages are captured, tap Done to save the complete document.

Scan Filters

FilterBest For
OriginalColor documents, photos, brochures
GrayscaleReducing file size while keeping detail
Black & WhiteText-heavy documents, printed pages
Enhanced TextLow-contrast text, faded documents
Use Batch mode for multi-page documents. It keeps the camera active between pages so you can scan a stack of papers without interruption.

Edge Detection

QuickScanner automatically identifies document boundaries in the camera viewfinder.

How It Works

  • Real-time image analysis detects rectangular edges as you frame the document.
  • Blue corner markers and an outline overlay highlight the detected area.
  • The detection adjusts dynamically as you move the camera.

Manual Adjustment

  • After capture, four drag handles appear at the corners of the detected area.
  • Drag any handle to fine-tune the boundary. The preview updates in real time.
  • Tap Auto-detect to re-run edge detection if you want to start over.

Perspective Correction

Once the edges are confirmed, the app automatically straightens the document:

  • Skewed angles are corrected to produce a flat, rectangular output.
  • The result looks as if the document were scanned on a flatbed scanner.
  • Correction is applied before filters, ensuring consistent image quality.
Edge detection works best against a contrasting background. Place documents on a dark surface if the paper is white, or vice versa.

PDF Export

Convert your scans into polished PDF documents for sharing, printing, or archiving.

Exporting a Document

  1. Open a document from your library.
  2. Tap Export as PDF.
  3. Choose paper size (A4, Letter, or Original).
  4. Set image quality (High, Medium, or Compact).
  5. Tap Generate to create the PDF.
  6. Share via email, messaging, or save to the file system.

Multi-page PDFs

  • Documents with multiple scanned pages are combined into a single PDF.
  • Reorder pages before export by dragging thumbnails.
  • Remove unwanted pages from the document before generating.
Choose Compact quality for documents you need to email, where file size matters. Use High for archival copies you want to print later.

QR Scanner

QuickScanner includes a built-in QR code and barcode reader.

Scanning a Code

  1. Switch to QR mode from the toolbar toggle.
  2. Point the camera at a QR code or barcode.
  3. The code is detected and decoded automatically — results appear instantly.

Tips & Tricks

For the sharpest scans, ensure good lighting and hold the device steady. Natural daylight works best — avoid harsh shadows crossing the document.
Use Enhanced Text filter for faded receipts or old documents. It boosts contrast specifically to make text more readable.
When scanning multi-page documents, keep the camera angle consistent across pages. This produces a more uniform PDF.
Toggle Auto-capture in Settings to speed up bulk scanning. The camera takes the shot as soon as it detects clean edges, no tap required.

Troubleshooting

IssueSolution
Edges not detectedEnsure the document contrasts with the background surface. Increase lighting if the area is dim.
Perspective correction looks wrongManually adjust the crop handles to match the document corners before confirming.
PDF is too largeUse the Compact quality setting in Export. Apply the Black & White filter to reduce file size further.
QR code not recognizedHold the device closer to the code. Ensure the entire code is within the viewfinder. Clean the camera lens.
Cloud upload failsCheck your internet connection and cloud service credentials. Re-sign in from Settings if needed.
Scans appear blurryHold the device steady while capturing. Tap to focus on the document if auto-focus isn't locking correctly.
Camera flash washes out the scanDisable flash and use ambient lighting instead. Flash creates glare on glossy paper.
