DeskFormation - Guide

Save and restore your entire desktop window layout with one click. Never rearrange windows again after a restart or monitor change.

Getting Started

  1. Arrange your windows the way you like
  2. Click Save (or press Ctrl + Cmd + S) to capture the layout
  3. A digest screenshot and formation entry appear in the history
  4. Click Restore (or press Ctrl + Cmd + R) to restore the latest formation

How It Works

Save

  • Captures all visible window positions, sizes, app names, and window titles
  • Generates a digest screenshot of your full desktop
  • Saved to the history list (up to 50 entries)

Restore

Uses a 4-stage matching algorithm to find the correct windows:

  1. Exact match: app + title + window ID
  2. App + title match
  3. App + window ID match
  4. Title similarity scoring
  • Positions and sizes are applied via the Accessibility API
  • Missing apps are automatically launched
